Information about me:	My name is Allie Parker. I am 18 years old and am currently going through the college process. Although I live in Lynnfield, I go to school in Lexington and plan to graduate in June of 2012. I have babysat for several families in my neighborhood, but there was one particular family that I constantly helped out. They had four children ages 2, 4, 8, and 10. I cooked, did laundry, and most importantly, had a great time with the kids, keeping safety in mind at all times (I am CPR certified).
Most important aspect of the job:	The most important aspect of my job is to truely have a passion for what I do. I show up ready to work. It may be tough at times, but you have to be patient and understanding. I want to develop a relationship with the child and not just babysit for the money. I want to interact, showing them how much I care about them.
Most rewarding:	What I find most rewarding is seeing a child grow both physically and mentally. It is truely exciting to see a child walk for the first time, speak new words, and to learn how to share their toys with others. It is so rewarding to know that I have an impact on their life.
How do you deal with common frustrations such as incessant crying, spitting out food or refusing to nap?	I take it one step at a time. It is not worth getting angry about because children are children. However, I do believe that it is important to be firm at times, especially when a child does something that puts another child in harms way. I usually do a time out; this gets the child to reflect on their behavior and allows me to step away from the situation so I do not direct my anger toward the child .

Additional Info:	The only concern that I may have is my committment. I am a high school student, in the middle of the college process, and on top of that I play ice hockey. I'm sure that we will be able to sit down and work through the schedule. I have my own car so I will be able to get from one location to another.
